Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work at a welcoming and inclusive school in Basingstoke. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about SEN education and making a difference in the lives of young learners.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support students with a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will involve providing tailored interventions, supporting learning and development, and fostering a nurturing environment for pupils to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver one-to-one and small group support, both in and out of the classroom.
• Assist with adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
• Encourage and support the social and emotional development of pupils.
• Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.
• Provide personal care and mobility support if required.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and other staff to ensure consistent pupil progress.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD and SEMH.
• A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to support.
• Relevant education or SEN-related qualifications are advantageous.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and a proactive approach to student welfare.
• Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
