Contract: 5 DAYS A WEEK - HOURS A DAY

Do you enjoy working with children? Are you an empathetic individual looking to support young children with special needs in their learning and development?

We at GSL Education Plymouth are delighted to be recruiting a friendly and proactive individual to work as an SEN Teaching Assistant at a client school located in PLYMOUTH The appointed candidate will need to be patient and caring towards the children, whilst providing support according to their needs.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work with a tight-knit team of teaching assistants to create an inspiring learning environment for pupils. These pupils range from 11-16 with ASD and SEMH.

The school is passionate about improving outcomes for young learners, encouraging life skills, and developing social skills through play and education, whilst having fun.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) within the classroom setting.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching methods to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social, emotional, and academic development of SEN students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to monitor student progress and address any concerns or challenges.
  • Provide one-to-one support or small group interventions as needed to facilitate learning and development.
  • Assist SEN students with personal care needs, mobility, or sensory requirements, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Help to create and maintain resources and materials tailored to the needs of SEN students, promoting independence and engagement.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting SEN students effectively.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures regarding safeguarding, confidentiality, and behaviour management, promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.

To be considered for the SEN Teaching Assistant role, the candidate must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.
  • Be committed to safeguarding.
