Job summary

The Avenue Special Needs School in Reading is seeking Teaching Assistants to support over 250 pupils aged 3–19 with a range of needs. The role is part-time, 34.5 hours per week, with a fixed schedule of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Monday and Thursday and 8:30 am to 3:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

You will work with the Class Lead, plan for and deliver lessons up to one day per week, and may attend parents’ evenings, professional meetings, and contribute to Annual Review Reports while

Qualifications

• PreviousTeachingAssistant experience is essential, with SEN pupil experience preferred.
• Adaptability, resilience and quick thinking are required.
• Strong communication across diverse people; GCSE English and Maths at GCSE level.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and deliver lessons for up to 1 day per week.
• Attend parent’s evenings and professional meetings.
• Contribute to pupils’ Annual Review Reports and liaise with parents and professionals.
• Work with the Class Lead and deputise when they are not in class.
