Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - East London (Permanent)

Career Teachers is currently recruiting for a kind-hearted and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in East London. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, working with students with a range of special educational needs across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Areas of focus may include:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Sensory and/or Physical Needs

Specification

  • Strong understanding of supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN (desirable)
  • Training in PECS, Makaton, manual handling or hoisting (advantageous but not essential)
  • Adaptable, motivated, and able to take initiative
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
  • Must be UK-based and eligible to work in the UK
