Job summary

Apex Education Recruitment is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS1 & KS2 SEN children in Romford. Ideal candidates will have experience in managing challenging behaviours and working with autism, along with relevant qualifications. Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant required to work with a KS1 & KS2 SEN children in the alternative provision of a Romford School. Experience and knowledge of working with Challenging Behaviour, Autism, Pre Verbal & Non Verbal would be an advantage.

To Start : September 2025 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm (Term time only with additional holiday pay)

This is an opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ,Youth Worker or Psychology graduate to make a real difference to their young lives.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Role & Qualification:

  • To support a mixed age range of SEN students with Autism, Challenging Behaviour, Pre Verbal & Non Verbal.
  • Managing the student s behaviour and employing de-escalation skills when required.
  • Able to identify & manage triggers and traits.
  • To work as a team alongside the class teacher with the students learning and development within the classroom.
  • Positive Handling Trained (i.e Team Teach) would ideally be essential or be prepared to be trained in this area.
  • Youth worker background or supporting children within the care sector.
  • L2/L3 Teaching Assistant, Care or SEND qualification.
