Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Havering
Role: SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism Support
Start Date: June 2025
Contract: supply (part-time/ full time options)
Salary: 90 - 100 per day (depending on experience)

Year groups: nursery to year 6

Tradewind are looking for supply teaching assistants to support local Havering schools with daily and long-term supply, within a range of primary ages.

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with Special Educational Needs in a school setting
  • Confidence supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups (phonics experience/ SATS intervention experience desirable)
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A good understanding of child development and IEP and EHCP targets

Essential Compliance for Teaching Assistants:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Your CV must contain all work since leaving formal education
  • 2 professional references (within the last 2 years)
  • Overseas police check (if applicable)
