Job summary

Milk Education are partnering with a successful and inclusive secondary school in Hackney to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional learning needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while developing experience within a secondary school setting.

The role involves supporting students with SEN both inside and outside the classroom, working on a 1:1 and small-group basis, and contributing to delivering EHCP provisions and intervention

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with Special Educational Needs inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with SEN students.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and achieving targets.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Hackney

Milk Education are working in partnership with a successful and inclusive secondary school in Hackney to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with additional learning needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND department to provide tailored support for students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties. The school has a strong reputation for academic achievement, student wellbeing and creating an environment where all learners feel valued and supported.

The Role:
  • Supporting students with Special Educational Needs both inside and outside the classroom
  • Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assisting students in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual targets
  • Supporting the delivery of EHCP provisions and intervention programmes
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence
  • Adapting resources and learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Building positive relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Youth Worker
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes
