Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with special educational needs across specialist and mainstream settings in the UK. Roles range from flexible day-to-day supply to long-term assignments, suitable for experienced TAs or those transferring from care or youth work.

Ideal candidates have a calm, patient approach and good teamwork, with enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one. Training such as Team Teach or Makaton is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs is desirable.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach is essential.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential for all roles.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support
• Supporting pupils with Autism and additional learning needs
• Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
• Implementing individual learning and behaviour support strategies
• Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
• Supporting pupils during practical and creative activities
• Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals
• Helping create a calm, safe and positive learning environment
• Providing personal care where required by the individual role
