Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Kingston upon Thames is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in secondary schools. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help students access the curriculum, and work closely with teachers and SEN leads.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a secondary school team.
• Adaptable and confident in responding to individual student needs.
• Passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
• Experience in school desirable; relevant experience in youth work, care settings, mentoring, coaching, or mental health services welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with additional needs.
• Support students with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
• Help students access the secondary curriculum and engage positively in lessons.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and other support staff.
• Support students' communication, confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and learning resources.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Support students during lessons, interventions, breaktimes, and educational activities where required.
