Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Mitcham, South West London

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

An inclusive and welcoming Primary School in Mitcham is seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs (including ASD, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties).
  • Assist the class teacher in creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Foster independence and boost confidence in pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and adaptable.
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) - desirable but not essential.
