SEN Teaching Assistant (Arise School - Croydon)

If so, Horizon Care and Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at our Arise Academy School based in central Croydon, working with children with SEN/SEMH aged 11-16.

Arise Academy is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in West Croydon, the school meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 11-19 with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone believe in themselves, have the confidence to celebrate their own uniqueness, and achieve success that is personal to them.

What you’ll get to do:
  1. Assisting students in their educational and social development.
  2. Providing support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
  3. Helping to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
  4. Supporting teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
  5. Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.
What we’re looking for from you:
  • Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
  • Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.
