Job Description

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD)

Start: ASAP

Location: Islington, North London

Contract: Full time

School Type: Secondary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD) to support a KS3 student with moderate ADHD. The student’s academic ability is progressing, but he requires assistance with concentration and peer interaction. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (ADHD), you will demonstrate your SEN support skills and liaise with academic professionals and healthcare leads.

Ideal candidate:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in educational or special education settings.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management, positive reinforcement, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet students' and the educational environment's changing needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children in educational or supportive roles.
  • Experience with SEND, especially with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Valid DBS check on the update service.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for contributing to students' educational development and well-being.
