Job Description:

SEN Teaching Assistant (G6) 29hrs per week

We are looking to appoint an excellent, dynamic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our talented and enthusiastic team of staff supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis. This role is for 29 hours per week (Monday to Friday), Term Time only (plus 5 INSET days), and is on a Fixed-Term Contract until 31 August 2026 (subject to funding).

Applications from experienced Teaching Assistants with particular experience working with children with special educational needs are welcome. Previous experience of working on a 1:1 basis could be advantageous, but not essential as training will be given.

We are a school family at Westbury where each member is proud to play their part. Our vibrant school, set in large grounds, is a place where every individual is valued, nurtured and respected so that they can flourish and live life to the full; it is a great place to grow and learn. Following our positive Ofsted inspection in April 2025, when we were judged to be ‘good’, our journey to improve further continues.

We offer:

  • a happy, welcoming school family with a strong, positive and caring Christian ethos;
  • amazing children who are enthusiastic and fully engaged in their learning;
  • a professional and dedicated team, who are committed to our continual drive to improve
  • a Cycle to Work scheme;
  • a Health and Wellbeing service providing access to counselling, physiotherapy and other valuable services.

We are seeking someone who:

  • is passionate about teaching and learning and enabling all children to achieve success;
  • is able to foster excellent relationships with children, parents and staff.

‘Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire.’ (Yeats)

If you want to help kindle the fire that gives our children the best start possible, then we look forward to hearing from you!

Applicants are encouraged to visit the school. Please contact the school office if you would like to visit.

Applications need to be submitted by 12 noon Friday 4th July 2025*.

*Please note that this job posting may close earlier than the stated closing date if a sufficient number of applications are received, and you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 9th July 2025.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is therefore subject to satisfactory references, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and ‘Childcare Disqualification Regulations’ check and an occupational health check.
