Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting a compassionate, resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs at a specialist school in Ely and surrounding areas.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups to remove barriers to learning, using tools like PECS and Makaton, and liaising with teachers, SENCo, and external therapists to track progress while maintaining positive behaviour and routines.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience supporting children or young adults with SEN.
• Patient, adaptable approach with strong crisis de-escalation skills.
• Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN certifications.
• Strong basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small group support aligned with EHCPs.
• Use alternative communication tools (PECS, Makaton) to support engagement.
• Assist with sensory processing routines and personal care when needed.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCos, and external therapists to track pupil development.
• Maintain positive behaviour management in line with school policy.
