Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced SEN TA for a specialist school in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, starting ASAP. The role supports 1:1 and small groups of pupils with SEN, including Autism/ASC and SEMH, fostering learning, independence and wellbeing.

You will work with teachers and the SEN team to deliver tailored activities, adapt resources and create a safe, supportive classroom environment throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Experience with Autism/ASC, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• Confident providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support.
• Support pupils with Autism/ASC, SEMH and additional needs.
• Assist pupils with classroom activities and individual learning programmes.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage communication, engagement and independence.
• Support emotional and sensory regulation.
• Help pupils develop confidence, social skills and independence.
• Build positive relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
• Monitor and support pupils’ engagement and progress.
• Maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupil wellbeing.
