SEN Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision (Southport)
Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Immediate Start Available

An inclusive and supportive alternative provision based in Southport is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time role, supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in place.

The successful candidate will work closely with students across a broad and engaging curriculum, which includes Functional Skills in English and Mathematics, as well as BTEC Vocational Qualifications in areas such as Art & Design, Hair & Beauty, and Construction. Lessons combine both theory and practical elements, tailored to support a wide range of learning needs and styles.

The school also delivers dedicated PSHE lessons, focusing on personal development, life skills, and preparation for post-16 pathways. The role requires a compassionate, adaptable, and proactive individual who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a range of SEN needs in both academic and vocational subjects.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping learners to access and engage with the curriculum.

  • Assist with practical lessons in vocational subjects such as Hair & Beauty, Construction, and Art.

  • Contribute to students' personal development through PSHE and life skills sessions.

  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to implement support strategies in line with EHCPs.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with SEN or behavioural needs, preferably in an educational or care setting.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • A commitment to supporting students' academic progress, well-being, and personal growth.

  • Availability to work full-time during term time.
