Job summary

Protocol Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN in a Bradford primary school. You will implement behaviour management plans, monitor progress and work closely with teachers to tailor support to each pupil's needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN and challenging behaviour, excellent communication, patience and resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. DBS checks and safeguarding training are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience are important for supporting pupils.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience within education, care or support settings is preferred.

SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support - Challenging Behaviour)

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire

Position: Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour.
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work closely with teachers and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN and challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience within education, care or support settings.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
