Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at this vibrant school. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have the best possible learning experience. This role begins September 2025.

Duties as SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with communication, social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs (if required).

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, or physical disabilities).
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, NVQ in Childcare, or equivalent) is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Ability to use different strategies to support student learning and well-being.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
