Job summary

Milk Education is partnering with a welcoming specialist provision school in Ossett to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. This full-time role focuses on supporting pupils with SEN to build confidence and independence within an inclusive setting.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions and help pupils reach their potential. A calm, patient approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in education, care, youth work or similar settings.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to adapt activities to individual pupil needs.
  • Passion for helping pupils with additional needs to achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral staff to implement learning plans.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
  • Promote independence, resilience and confidence inside and outside the classroom.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Full-Time | Specialist Provision School | Long-Term Opportunity


Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive specialist provision school in Ossett that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.


This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full potential within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.


The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:



  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, and complex learning difficulties

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions to support learning and personal development

  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and the wider pastoral team to implement individual learning plans

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development

  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom

  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive


Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:



  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs in education, care, youth work, or similar settings

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to adapt to the individual needs of each pupil

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential
