Job summary

Positive Futures Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support learners aged 6-11 with Autism at a specialist school in Surrey. The role is 40 hours per week, term-time only, with a 8:15am start and varied finish times.

The ideal candidate will have GCSEs in Maths and English (Level 3), and TA qualification at Level 2 or 3 is desirable. Prior experience in a special school is highly valued, with full training on any required interventions provided.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at minimum Level 3 is essential.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working in a special school environment is highly desirable.
  • Team TEACH Training is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils to help them feel safe and engaged in learning.
  • Promote independence and personal development among pupils.
  • Support the Class Teacher in day-to-day class running.
  • Adapt to changing needs of the school; some physical intervention training will be provided if needed.
  • Support pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and well-being.

Job Title:Teaching Assistant - Specialist School

Location:Smallfield, Surrey

Salary: £12.99 - £13.89 per hour (£23,210 - £24,818 actual salary dependant on qualifications) Plus £1000 Welcome bonus *

Hours: 40 hours per week-Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm

We are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Smallfield, Surrey supporting students aged 6-11 years old with Autism and associated behavioural and communication difficulties.

The role:

As Teaching Assistant, your role is to support our children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.

Key Duties:
  • To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the School.
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development
  • Support the Class Teacher in all areas of the day to day running of the class
  • To respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school. Some physical intervention may be needed upon occasion, full training on this will be provided.
  • To promote pupils cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.
Experience /Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Level 3 / Grade C or equivalent is essential.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of working in a special school environment is highly desirable.
  • Team TEACH Training- desirable
