Job description

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Term-time only

Are you a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant with a strong background in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a committed and nurturing individual to join our small, dedicated SEN base within a vibrant primary school in Norris Green.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant in our specialist SEN provision, you will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, or sensory challenges. Working closely with our SENCo and class teachers, you will help deliver personalised support that enables every child to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Support pupils with personal care and emotional regulation where needed.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.

Requirements

  • Essential: Previous experience working with children with SEN in a primary school or specialist setting.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and high expectations for all children.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and suitable references.
