Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and nurturing team at a vibrant school. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities

  • Help implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers and external professionals

  • Promote pupils’ independence, confidence and social development

  • Support children with emotional regulation, sensory needs or physical challenges where required

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs, or SEMH

  • A calm, caring and flexible approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and families

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent) is desirable

  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
