Job description

MAPLE VIEW SCHOOL – NEW VACANCIES
TEACHING ASSISTANTS

SALARY FROM £21,429.41 (39 weeks, term time only)

Maple View School, opened in June 2020, is a small school with a capacity for 18 children, including 7 residential placements, aged 6-16 with diverse needs such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Disabilities, Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties, behavioural challenges, and Prader Willi Syndrome.

The children follow individualized curriculum pathways, either semi-formal or subject-specific, aligned with EHCP Outcomes and post-school preparation. Daily routines include classroom-based literacy, numeracy, and PSHE activities, with afternoon access to horticulture, small animal care, cooking, Outdoor School, and community activities. Individual and group therapy sessions are integrated throughout the day.

The school emphasizes creativity and well-being, starting with a whole-school music session and ending with yoga. A half-termly shared book guides cross-curricular planning in music, art, literacy, science, and humanities. As a 'Kindness School', acts of kindness are regularly encouraged and celebrated.

We seek dynamic Teaching Assistants experienced in supporting children with SEND. Candidates should understand various Special Educational Needs, enjoy playing and supporting curriculum activities, and demonstrate flexibility, resilience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children with SEND.
