Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a local school in Chard. The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 3:30pm, with a full-time contract and pay of £14.25–£16.68 per hour.

The position supports pupils with SEN and SEMH, working under the guidance of teaching staff. You will assist in delivering engaging activities, help create a positive environment, and support behavioural, emotional and academic development while collaborating with SENCOs and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD or behavioural needs (desirable).
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• As SEN Teaching Assistant, support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging learning activities.

SEN Teaching Assistant Required

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

The Ideal Candidate

• Have previous experience working with children or young people
• Have experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, ASC, ADHD, or behavioural needs (desirable but not essential)
• Are patient, empathetic, and adaptable
• Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Are passionate about making a difference in education
• Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one
