Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in Bournemouth, you'll be a vital part of the educational journey for students with special needs. Your days will be filled with meaningful interactions, as you collaborate with teachers to offer personalised and group support. You'll help students grasp various subjects and hone their practical skills, making learning both engaging and accessible. Additionally, you'll assist in crafting lesson materials, stimulate classroom activities, and provide insightful feedback on student progress, ensuring every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  1. Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
  2. Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their knowledge and skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their understanding of various concepts and practical applications.
  3. Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping students to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
  4. Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
  5. Maintain detailed records of students’ progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s development.
  6. Ensure that students receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

  1. Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  2. A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  5. Driving Licence required.
  6. Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
