Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in a Blackburn specialist SEN school from September. You will work alongside teachers and SEN staff, using individual plans and EHCPs to provide targeted support, promote confidence and engagement in learning.

Ideal candidates include those with SEN or school-based experience, or psychology graduates, who are patient, resilient, and adaptable, and committed to improving outcomes for pupils

SEN Teaching Assistant

The supportive specialist SEN school in Blackburn is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced support staff, as well as candidates looking to develop careers in SEN Education, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Social Work, or related fields.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a broad range of additional needs, potentially including Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, speech and communication difficulties, and SEMH needs.

You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff, using pupils' EHCPs to understand individual needs, identify barriers to learning, and implement appropriate support strategies. Building strong relationships will be fundamental, providing pupils with the consistency and encouragement they need to develop confidence, communication, independence, and engagement with learning.
