We are currently working with a supportive and inclusive SEN Secondary School in Portsmouth to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special educational needs (SEN).

Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and committed SEN Teacher to deliver high-quality, tailored education to students with a range of special educational needs. As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons, adapt the curriculum to meet individual learning needs, and work collaboratively with support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that supports students' academic, emotional, and social development.

SEN Teacher for Secondary School
Location: Portsmouth
Salary Scale: £31,650 to £49,084 annually
Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher Role:

  • Deliver differentiated and engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Implement strategies and interventions to support learning, communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement EHCPs and support plans.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that promotes resilience and confidence.

Requirements for the SEN Teacher Role:

  • Hold QTS/PGCE or an equivalent UK teaching qualification.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD).
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs.

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teacher, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
