Job summary

Riseley Green School is seeking a passionate SEN Teacher for Primary to deliver aCreative, differentiated curriculum for pupils with additional needs within a supportive setting. You will plan engaging lessons and adapt content to individual strengths and starting points, ensuring inclusion and progress.

As part of Outcomes First Group, you’ll join a multidisciplinary team, with small classes, dedicated resources and time to support wellbeing, independence and lifelong learning.

Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching or working with Primary-age pupils - essential.
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary curriculum - essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative and differentiated Primary curriculum lessons tailored to individual pupil needs and abilities.
  • Use knowledge of Primary teaching to provide appropriate challenge, progression and support across the curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching and curriculum content for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
  • Create a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence, communication and emotional wellbeing.
  • Monitor and assess progress, using assessment to identify next steps and maximise outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Contribute to development of the school's Primary curriculum and learning environment.

Location: Riseley Green School, Riseley, Reading, Berkshire RG7 1QF

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

About the Role

Due to our continued growth, Riseley Green School is looking for a passionate and inspiring SEN Teacher with experience teaching Primary-age pupils and a strong knowledge of the Primary curriculum to join our team. As part of our growing specialist school, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver creative, personalised learning for children with additional needs, helping them build confidence, independence and a positive relationship with education. With small class sizes, specialist resources and support from a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you’ll have the flexibility to adapt the Primary curriculum around individual strengths, needs and starting points, creating meaningful opportunities for every pupil to experience success. For this role, previous experience working with Primary-age pupils and a good working knowledge of the Primary curriculum are essential

What You'll Be Doing

  • Monitor and assess progress, using assessment effectively to identify next steps and maximise individual outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals to provide consistent, holistic support.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the school's Primary curriculum, teaching approaches and learning environment.
What We're Looking For
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has proven experience teaching or working with Primary-age pupils - essential.
  • Has a good knowledge and understanding of the Primary curriculum - essential.
  • Can confidently plan, deliver and adapt Primary-level learning to meet different abilities and individual needs.
  • Is passionate about helping pupils with Special Educational Needs achieve their potential.
  • Can create creative, engaging and highly personalised learning experiences.
  • Builds positive and trusting relationships with pupils and understands the importance of a nurturing approach.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and confident in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and values collaboration.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, professional development and achieving the best possible outcomes for every pupil.
