Job summary

Red Kite School in Princes Risborough is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join our specialist setting. You'll plan and deliver engaging lessons, tailoring learning to each pupil's needs, and build strong relationships that help learners feel safe, supported and ready to progress.

With a permanent, term-time only contract starting January 2027 and a 40-hour week, you will contribute to personalised learning plans, collaborate with therapists and families, uphold high expectations, and

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching in SEN settings or similar.
  • Ability to adapt learning for diverse needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Build positive relationships to help pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
  • Create an inclusive classroom where every achievement is recognised and celebrated.
  • Develop and review personalised learning plans, including IEPs and behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitor progress, identify next steps and celebrate milestones.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and external professionals to provide exceptional support.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistency, understanding and high expectations.
  • Safeguard the wellbeing of every pupil and help create a nurturing learning environment.

What you will be doing

What You’ll Bring
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent required.
  • Experience/trained in IT or Music subjects is desirable.
  • Passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping every child succeed.
  • Creative, adaptable and able to tailor teaching to a range of learning needs.
  • Calm, resilient and confident in supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • An excellent communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience working within SEN, Autism, SEMH or specialist education is highly desirable, but we also encourage applications from mainstream teachers who are looking to make the move into specialist education. Full support and ongoing professional development will be provided.

Red Kite School is an independent special school for up to 60 young people aged 11–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
