Job description

Tutors Wanted – Maths, English & Science – Hampshire, West Sussex, Portsmouth & Nearby Areas

Are you an enthusiastic educator looking for flexible, rewarding work where you can genuinely make a difference?

Teaching Personnel is partnering with local authorities to provide 1:1 tuition for pupils who are currently outside of mainstream education (EOTAS). We are looking for dedicated tutors to deliver tailored support in Maths, English and Science across Hampshire, West Sussex, Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

Many of these young people have additional needs such as SEND or SEMH, and your support will play a key role in helping them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning. You’ll design and deliver bespoke lessons, mainly with secondary-aged pupils, though many will be working below age-related expectations.

This position is ideal for teachers who value flexibility, want more control over their schedules, and are passionate about making a lasting impact.

What You’ll Gain:

  • £25–£35 per hour (PAYE)
  • Weekly pay direct to you
  • Hours that work around your lifestyle
  • Options for part-time or full-time tutoring
  • Local placements to keep travel minimal
  • Ongoing guidance from a dedicated consultant
  • The chance to support pupils who need it most

What We’re Looking For:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • A patient, empathetic approach and commitment to inclusive practice
  • Ability to confidently plan and deliver sessions in Maths, English and/or Science
  • Experience with SEND/SEMH pupils (beneficial but not essential)
  • Adaptability in your teaching style to meet each learner’s needs

Whether you’re recently retired, balancing other commitments, or simply seeking a rewarding alternative to classroom teaching, we’d love to hear from you.
