Job title: SEN Teacher

Location: Westbourne School, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 2EL

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary: Up to £42,000.00 per annum, depending on experience (not pro-rata)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teacher (with a focus on Maths and/or Science) to join our dedicated team at Westbourne School, located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

This role involves delivering high-quality education to students with additional needs, supporting an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

About the role

You will deliver tailored lessons in Maths and/or Science up to Key Stage 4, supporting individual learning needs and contributing to students' educational, social, and emotional development.

You will teach individual students or small groups, ensuring meaningful outcomes are achieved.

Key responsibilities

  1. Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in line with the curriculum and policies.
  2. Teach Maths and/or Science up to Key Stage 4.
  3. Monitor and report on pupil progress.
  4. Support school development initiatives.
  5. Support pupils' physical, educational, and moral development.
  6. Create a stimulating classroom environment.
  7. Coordinate teaching and assessment of key subjects.
  8. Develop and review IEPs and Behaviour Plans.
  9. Ensure safety planning, including risk assessments.
  10. Guide Learning Support Assistants and staff.
  11. Support pupils' self-regulation and positive behaviour.

Essential requirements

  • UK QTS or recognized equivalent.
  • Experience or interest in SEN.
  • Experience teaching Maths and/or Science to Key Stage 4.
  • Passionate about inclusive education with a creative approach.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence desirable.
