We are looking for SEN Teachers who have a therapeutic approach to their teaching and learning. Teachers with a background in Early Years and Primary Teaching would be suitable for this position but must be prepared to teach students of all ages. Experience of working with Autistic pupils, willingness to teach and lead on a curriculum area(s). We need people who share our vision to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK, to be happy and to make their way in the world.

Service Overview

New Barn School offers a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6 – 19 years, who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health complexities.

New Barn School takes full advantage of its beautiful settings and fosters a love for outdoor curriculum including forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding. The School is within a commutable distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, Reading, and other surrounding towns and villages.

Job Summary

Duties will include:

  1. Teaching a varied range of subjects
  2. Preparing, planning, and assessing teaching sessions whilst maintaining awareness of curriculum developments
  3. Writing and implementing individual education plans, making assessments of educational attainment, and setting challenging yet achievable targets
  4. Building relationships with all young people to encourage their interest and participation in their education
  5. Creating a stimulating and purposeful environment for all pupils to promote teaching and learning outside formal classroom settings

Key Skills Required:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have a background of teaching a range of subjects, delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level
  • Knowledge of current education issues in relation to practice, processes, and curriculum
