Job description

SEN Teacher

A large special needs (SEN) school situated in the borough of Brent is actively searching for a SEN teacher with experience in ASD. This position is full-time starting immediately.

  1. Outstanding SEN School
  2. Full Time
  3. Immediate Start
  4. Long term
  5. Secondary
  6. Key Stage 3/4/5 - ASC/SLD
  7. 3/4 TAs in class

The School

This is a friendly and supportive SEN School that works closely with children diagnosed with Autism. This particular SEN School is located in North West London and is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The school has parking at the main site in addition to off-street parking, making it easily accessible for those who drive, and is within walking distance from the local stations. The school has a strong ethos implemented every day, and the staff have created a high morale to ensure a safe and comfortable space for everyone.

The SEN Teacher Role

Ideally, the successful applicant will have a proven track record working as a SEN Teacher in an SEN environment, but the Headteacher will consider anyone looking to transition from a mainstream setting.

The successful SEN Teacher will be teaching 8 students with ASD/SLD at either Key Stage 3, 4, or 5. All the students are verbal; however, there are some speech delays within the class.

The successful SEN Teacher will need to be committed, flexible, and resilient with the ability to use their own initiative where required. Experience working in an SEN school or with ASD children would be desirable but not essential.

Progress with these pupils can be slow compared to their contemporaries, so patience, a caring nature, passion for the job, and strong self-belief will be essential.
