Job summary

Polaris Education - Stannard School, Dunstable, is seeking an experienced SEN Class Teacher to join a small bespoke class of up to 6 pupils with Teaching Assistant support. You will plan and deliver lessons across the primary curriculum, tailoring them to a mixed-ability group and tracking progress.

The role is full-time, term-time only, starting September 2026 at Stannard School in Dunstable. Applicants should have Qualified Teacher Status and SEN experience, with a commitment to inclusive

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
  • Successful SEN teaching experience.
  • A good knowledge of the National Curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Teach all allocated areas of the primary curriculum to a small bespoke class group of up to 6 pupils with the support of a Teaching Assistant.
  • Plan, prepare and present lessons that cater for the needs of the entire ability range.
  • Motivate pupils through enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and other professionals to ensure a high standard of education.
  • Monitor and assess pupils' progress, providing regular feedback to pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Create and maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment for all pupils.

Salary: £28,000 - £39,520

Location: Stannard School, Dunstable

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Stannard School is located in the historic market town of Dunstable, approximately 2 miles from the M1, and offers a safe and supportive environment for pupils from 5 to 18 years old as part of the Polaris Community.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all allocated areas of the primary curriculum to a small bespoke class group of up to 6 pupils, with the support of a Teaching Assistant. You Will Be Required To

  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to promote pupil engagement and learning
  • Create and maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment for all pupils
  • Ensure all school policies and procedures are adhered to in line with the school values
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Successful SEN teaching experience
  • A good knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to the success of every pupil

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be covered by Polaris Community.
