Details:
Working with SEND is a rewarding experience that allows you to demonstrate creativity and passion in supporting children and young adults with SEND in their learning journey.
In schools, you will work with four broad categories of need: communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, and sensory and/or physical needs. Education and training in Special Needs or Healthcare are beneficial but not essential.
As an SEN TA, you will collaborate with the class teacher and therapy teams to support each child's progress, helping them reach their individual goals. You may also provide general support such as personal care, hoisting, or feeding, according to daily requirements.
You will gain experience working with mild to severe learning difficulties, communication techniques, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, Autism, and complex medical needs.
SEN TAs are essential in providing individualized support through sensory activities, learning through play, practical experiences, and formal teaching. SEND schools aim to equip students with tools for adult life, including employment, supported living, or social care.
