Do you have the patience, empathy, and dedication to support young learners with complex special educational needs? GSL Education are excited to offer an opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide vital 1:1 support in a warm and inclusive primary school setting in Saltdean.

As a SEN TA, you will work closely with pupils with complex needs, supporting their learning, communication, and personal development. Your role will be instrumental in helping these children access the curriculum and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the individual needs of pupils with complex SEN.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility where required, ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Support communication using alternative methods such as PECS, Makaton, or other AAC systems (training available).
  • Implement and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Encourage independence, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to promote holistic development.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with complex SEN in a primary setting.
  • Understanding of communication aids and alternative communication methods preferred.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to meet diverse needs.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow guidance from SENCO and therapists.
  • Have anupdated CV(covering thelast ten years barring any unexplained gaps) andan enhanced DBSregistered to theUpdate Service(or be willing to apply for one).
