Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - Challenging Behaviour Support - Burford

ASAP Start - £89 - £95 per day dependent on experience

There is an exciting opportunity to secure a 1 year contract at an 'Outstanding' two form entry Mainstream Primary School based in Burford. This is a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant opportunity. The school is looking for someone to support a small cohort of children who display challenging behaviour and have social, emotional mental health needs. Experience with SEMH, ASD, team teach training, ADHD, and a teaching assistant with experience in a similar position is suitable for this role. The position begins ASAP.

The Primary school would ideally like to meet candidates who have a degree and some experience working with Special Educational Needs e.g. Autism, ADHD, dyslexia. The children can present challenging behaviour, so will require someone with confidence and experience to control and calm this. This role will entail a variety of responsibilities and will offer excellent experience for the teaching assistant appointed. Minimum standards will include Maths and English at GCSE graded C or above.

Your role will be to support the individual needs of SEND children within each class. The needs include ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, global delay, SEMH, and physical and behavioural challenges. Experience working with one or more of these is ideal for this role.

This is a fantastic platform for aspiring teachers to gain valuable experience in preparation for completing their teacher training the following year. This is a teacher training school meaning that successful TAs can consequently be enrolled on to the School's Direct Teacher Training Programme in September 2026.
