Job Description:

Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Isle of Wight.

Multiple positions are available, and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.

We aim to transform the quality of education for young people with SEN/SEND, SEMH, MLD, and SLD.

We seek passionate SEN/SEND tutors to work with disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Isle of Wight.

Our mission is to improve educational support for vulnerable young people, with ongoing support from our team of SEN/SEND Support Specialists.

This role is ideal for qualified SEN/SEND teachers interested in 1:1 tutoring, using creative, flexible, trauma-informed approaches to boost engagement and educational outcomes.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role:
  • Providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs referred by local authorities and schools
  • Supporting their educational and social-emotional development through holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:
  • Planning engaging, needs-based sessions
  • Delivering holistic support to enhance learning and well-being
  • Completing reports and providing progress feedback
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or similar needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies
  • Enhanced DBS (assistance available)
  • Two professional references
  • Right to work in the UK

SEN / SEND Tutor employment status:
  • Engagement as a Worker for short-term assignments
  • Paid via PAYE, working through a contract for service
  • No set hours or expenses covered
  • Insurance provided; this is not self-employment
