Job summary

Targeted Provision Ltd is recruiting experienced SEND tutors in Berkshire for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who have fallen out of mainstream education. Earn £28–£35 per hour with flexible, part-time placements and the option to work from home or in hybrid settings.

You’ll be supported by a specialist team and have access to Tes CPD and our tutor community. Roles are not permanent; you will operate as a self-employed tutor on a freelance contract for services, with invoices

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of teaching or tutoring with SEND experience.
• Qualify with QTS/QTLS or equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Ability to teach English, Maths or Science at relevant Key Stages.
• Enhanced DBS clearance; we can help arrange it.
• UK right to work is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 tutoring in English, Maths or Science to learners aged 4–18.
• Sessions typically 1–2 hours; in-person at home, in school or community settings; hybrid options may apply.
• Submit per-session reports using provided templates with SEND Support Specialist guidance.
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and maintain learner wellbeing.
• Operate as a self-employed tutor on a freelance contract for services.

Job description

You'll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND tutors in Berkshire, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who've fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

How we work

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

• Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
• Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.

Invoicing and payments

Paid monthly via an auto-generated invoice you approve in our tutor portal.

You may have worked as SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), SEND Teacher, Special Needs Teacher, Special Needs Tutor, 1:1 Tutor, Home Tutor, Alternative Provision Tutor, Reintegration Tutor, Intervention Specialist, Inclusion Coordinator, or a mainstream / class teacher including Maths, English or Science with SEND experience.
