Job summary

Targeted Provision Ltd is recruiting experienced SEND tutors in Berkshire for one-on-one tutoring with children and young people who have fallen out of mainstream education.

You'll work on a flexible, part-time basis, planning from home with occasional in-person sessions. DBS checks can be arranged, and you’ll join a specialist team supporting tutors and Local Authorities across the UK.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' teaching or tutoring with SEND needs.
• QTS or QTLS or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Ability to teach English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: promote safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS clearance and two professional references.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one tutoring in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18 referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person (often at home), with occasional school or community settings and possible hybrid arrangements.
• Complete per-session reports with templates and SEND Support Specialist.
• Engage with learners using trauma-informed, student-centered approaches.

Job description

You'll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND tutors in Berkshire, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who've fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

• Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
• Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.

Invoicing and payments

Paid monthly via an auto-generated invoice you approve in our tutor portal.

You may have worked as SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), SEND Teacher, Special Needs Teacher, Special Needs Tutor, 1:1 Tutor, Home Tutor, Alternative Provision Tutor, Reintegration Tutor, Intervention Specialist, Inclusion Coordinator, or a mainstream / class teacher including Maths, English or Science with SEND experience.
