Role: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £100-£110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are on the lookout for an empathetic Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic secondary school in Chesterfield. This is an excellent opportunity to provide vital support to students with Autism and other learning needs, helping them thrive in a structured and inclusive environment.

In this position, you will work closely with students who have Autism, helping them navigate both academic and social challenges. Your primary responsibilities as a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant include:

• Specialised Support: Provide targeted assistance to students with Autism, adapting learning materials and strategies to meet their individual needs.
• Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of students, offering feedback to teachers and parents to ensure that they are reaching key developmental milestones.
• Emotional Support: Create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, offering emotional guidance to help students manage their anxieties and sensory sensitivities.
• Communication: Maintain strong lines of communication with teachers, parents, and professionals involved in each student's education, ensuring a holistic approach to their development.
• Promoting Inclusion: Encourage a sense of belonging for students with Autism, promoting social integration and inclusivity within the school community.

Requirements:

• Relevant experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly with secondary students on the Autism spectrum.
• Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping students with Autism succeed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team, adapting to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Experience in implementing individualised learning plans (IEPs) and supporting students in both one-on-one and group settings is advantageous.
• Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
