Job summary

Reeson Education are seeking a KS3 Teacher (SEN - Autism Provision) to deliver autism-informed science teaching in a small-class setting.

You will adapt the KS3 curriculum for ASC pupils, use evidence-based approaches, and support communication, emotional regulation, independence and wellbeing while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour.

Qualifications

• QTS is essential for the role.
• Strong subject knowledge in Science for KS3.
• Experience of teaching pupils in KS3, preferably in SEN/SEND settings.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, adapted Science lessons for KS3 pupils.

Purpose of the Role

The KS3 Subject Specialist Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, autism-informed teaching in Science to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs.

The post holder will adapt the KS3 curriculum to meet the individual needs of pupils in a small-class specialist setting, ensuring learning is accessible, meaningful, and ambitious while supporting pupils' communication, emotional regulation, independence, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, adapted lessons.
• Adapt the KS3 curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with ASC and associated needs
• Use autism-specific and evidence-based approaches, including:
• Visual supports and structured teaching
• Clear routines and predictable lesson structures
• Sensory and regulation strategies
• Communication-supportive approaches
• Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment

Pupil Development & Wellbeing

• Implement positive behaviour and regulation strategies in line with the school's autism-informed approach
• Maintain high expectations for both learning and behaviour
• Ensure safeguarding and pupil welfare are always a priority
