Job Description:

Hays Recruitment is proud to support the local Bath & North Somerset primary schools in recruiting a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support pupils with SEN within their resource provision. This is a long-term, full-time role.

Your new role: As a teaching assistant within this school, you will support pupils with SEN in the KS1 and KS2 resource bases. You will typically support pupils with ASD, Global delay, ADHD, and non-verbal needs. You will work under the instruction of the class teacher to create a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment, utilizing various learning equipment and managing behaviors effectively. You will implement positive behavior techniques, including reward charts and reinforcement strategies. In cases of escalated behaviors, you will ensure safety by using sensory rooms or removing pupils from triggering environments. You will also offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects and liaise with teachers to align sessions with attainment goals.

What you'll need to succeed: To be considered, you must have full 'Right to Work' in the UK and recent experience supporting children and young people with complex and profound needs (references required). Additionally, you should have the ability to hold intervention and booster sessions in core subjects such as phonics, reading, and spelling. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return: Successful applicants will receive full support and guidance from a recruitment consultant, along with benefits including:

  • Free training
  • Upfront DBS cost coverage
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Competitive pay rate
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
