Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Pupil Support Assistant to join a specialist school in the Trafford area. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning activities and develop communication, social, and emotional skills.

You will implement EHCP-aligned strategies to foster independence and positive behaviour. The role requires empathy, resilience, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
• Caring, resilient, and able to build positive relationships quickly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine interest in supporting pupils with SEN.
• Adaptable and able to respond to varying needs of individual students.
• Remain calm, patient, and positive when faced with challenges.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils in accessing learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
• Support the development of communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills.
• Implement personalised strategies and intervention programmes in line with EHCP targets.
• Encourage independence while providing the right level of support for each learner.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and attendance.
• Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
