Job Advert: Private 1:1 SEN Tutor for Sutton Local Authority

Position: Private 1:1 SEN Tutor
Location: Sutton Area (must live locally)
Type: Part-time, Flexible Hours
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience

The Local Authority of Sutton is seeking a dedicated and passionate Private 1:1 SEN Tutor to provide tailored educational support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students reach their full potential by providing personalized learning in their homes or local libraries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions to students with SEN, based on individual learning plans.

  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique learning needs of each student.

  • Ensure a safe and engaging learning environment for all students.

  • Track and report progress, maintaining communication with the Local Authority and parents.

  • Travel to students' homes or local libraries within the Sutton area to deliver tutoring sessions.

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals when required to ensure holistic support for students.

Requirements:

  • A valid DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Proven experience in SEN teaching, with a strong understanding of various special educational needs and how to support students effectively.

  • Must live within the Sutton area and be able to travel locally to students' homes or libraries.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Experience in creating and implementing individualized learning plans.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with a range of SEN, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.

  • A flexible and patient approach to teaching, with a passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
