Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

Role Overview:

As a SEN Primary Teaching Assistant (TA), you ll play a vital role in creating a nurturing and structured environment for children with additional needs. You ll work closely with class teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists to deliver tailored support that helps each child thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • One-to-one and small group support: Guide students through their learning journey and help them build essential skills.
  • Implementing personalised learning plans: Adapt teaching materials to suit individual needs.
  • Encouraging social and emotional development: Use strategies to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Providing sensory and behavioural support: Apply de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Assisting with speech and language interventions: Collaborate with therapists to support communication development.
  • Helping with structured routines: Maintain a safe, consistent, and engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting personal care needs: Assist with toileting and mobility when required.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback: Contribute to IEPs and liaise with SEN professionals.

Requirements:

  • Availability: Full-time commitment with consistency and reliability.
  • Experience: Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or SEN Support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Communication Methods: Experience with Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices (desirable).
  • Behaviour Management: Familiarity with positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Approach: Patient, empathetic, and proactive.
  • Documentation: Updated CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
