Outdoor SEN Learning Support Assistant - Exeter, Devon

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a dynamic and enriching outdoor environment? We are seeking a dedicated Outdoor SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team at our partner school in Exeter. You must be able to speak Ukrainian, as you will be supporting a Ukrainian-speaking student.

Job Details:

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent
Hours: 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Pay: £90.00 - £100 per day (based on experience)

Teaching Personnel's partner school in Exeter provides an alternative, nature-based education for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a hands-on, outdoor learning environment where students engage in practical activities, fostering resilience, confidence, and personal growth. With a focus on emotional well-being and skill development, the school supports students in building independence and preparing for future opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one support to a child with SEN during outdoor activities and learning sessions
  2. Communicate and support in Ukrainian to ensure the child feels safe, understood, and included
  3. Assist in planning and adapting activities to meet the individual needs of the child
  4. Foster positive relationships with the child, their family, and other team members
  5. Monitor and record the child's progress and development, communicating effectively with relevant stakeholders
  6. Always ensure the safety and well-being of the child during outdoor activities

What We're Looking for:

  1. Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in an educational or outdoor setting is desirable but not essential
  2. Fluent in Ukrainian - this is essential
  3. Understanding of different learning needs and the ability to adapt support accordingly
  4. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents
  5. Passion for outdoor education and a commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity
  6. Relevant qualifications or willingness to undergo training as required
