A local authority is seeking an experienced SEN Mediation and Tribunal Officer for a 3-6 month interim contract with a daily rate of £400-£425. SEN Mediation and Tribunal Officer
3-6-month interim contract
South Coast £400-£425 per day Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid or Fully Remote

A Local Authority who is seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal & Mediation Officer to support the resolution of disputes between families and the council regarding SEND provision. This is a key role focused on ensuring legal compliance, managing tribunal cases, and facilitating mediation to avoid formal proceedings where possible.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating responses to tribunal appeals, preparing documentation, and representing the authority at hearings. The role also involves close liaison with families, legal representatives, schools, and internal teams to ensure sensitive and professional handling of complex cases.

Your Role as Capital Programme Delivery Manager:
  • Manage SEND tribunal appeals, including evidence gathering and legal documentation
  • Arrange and support mediation meetings to resolve disputes informally
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory timelines
  • Liaise with stakeholders to manage cases with empathy and professionalism
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues on tribunal and mediation processes
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement
Essential experience:
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and tribunal procedures
  • Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and advocacy
