Job summary

Barnardo's is seeking a part-time Learning Support Assistant for our Chelmsley Wood Centre in Birmingham. The role focuses on helping learners aged 16+ with Special Educational Needs, supporting classroom activities and providing pastoral support to help students progress to further education or employment.

The successful candidate will work under Teaching Staff or a Team Manager, assist with equipment, administration, and behaviour management, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment

Qualifications

• Some previous experience of working in a school setting.
• Experience of supporting young people aged 16+ with Special Educational Needs.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ level 2 or equivalent and strong literacy/numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning in the Centre.
• Provide pastoral support and welfare for pupils as needed.
• Assist with administration tasks and organising equipment and resources.
• Support behaviour management and understand students' individual needs (EHCP awareness).
