Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team in a friendly Maldon primary school. This is an exciting opportunity to support children with a range of special educational needs (SEN), helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social/emotional challenges.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and ensure inclusion in the classroom.
  • Support the development of social and emotional skills through positive relationships and tailored interventions.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Help to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents/carers where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Person Specification
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally supporting SEN.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with additional needs.
  • A caring, patient, and resilient nature.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as use initiative.
